Representatives from the Cuban tourism industry were out in force at the International Tourism Fair (FIT) of Latin America, which took place at the weekend in Buenos Aires.
More than ten hotel companies and travel agencies, as well as the Cubana de Aviacion airline were present at the event to encourage more people to book Cuba holidays, the Prensa Latina news agency reports.
The companies are hoping to capitalise on growing interest in the Argentinian tourist markets, after director of the Cuba Information and Tourism Promotion Office for the Southern Cone Luis Aguilera said there were 62,481 Argentine tourists in Cuba this year.
“We came to FIT with enough reasons to be satisfied,” Mr Aguilera told the news agency.
“In almost nine months we broke the historical record of Argentine tourists who traveled to Cuba.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism in Cuba says the number of tourists from Russia hit a record high of 56,000 this year.
