Home to one of the world’s greatest beaches and the perfect spot for all kinds of water sports, it’s easy to see why so many tourists book flights to Varadero in Cuba.
Scuba diving, sailing and swimming with dolphins are all for the taking on Varadero Beach, and even if you don’t want to spend time on the sands there is a championship golf course nearby.
Explorers will want to trek to Ambrosio Cave, a natural sandstone and limestone formation that is well-known for its fruit bats and ancient wall paintings that date back to pre-Columbian times.
There are plenty of Cuba hotels to choose from in Varadero, some of which with their own rich history – American gangster Al Capone famously spent a lot of time in the town, and tourists can visit some of the locations where he stayed.
Varadero is also located just a two-hour drive from Havana, making the capital easily accessible for a day trip.
